Beautiful people, A new year has arrived. And in the midst of the surreality and heartache of the news headlines, somehow I have found myself overcome with waves of gratitude. I cannot pinpoint what has shifted, but these waves feel more tender, more urgent, more precious than usual. “Pay attention!” they intone, “This IS the ‘wild, precious life’ Mary Oliver wrote about. You are already living it, and approaching 50! A whole year has again passed, and a whole year is again ahead (if you’re lucky), but here you are, NOW, again. What is being taken for granted? What can be cherished? What can be let go? What is ready to be birthed?” I am here, now, alive. You are here, now, alive. We are breathing, pulsing, somewhere along this rollercoaster orbit of our existence. No matter what has passed and what is to come, I feel lucky to have met YOU somewhere along that journey. We have lived until today! There’s a roof over my head, food to eat, a breath to breathe, loved ones to cuddle or call, eyes to see, a mouth to taste, and even access to a digital device where I can type these words! (Or type 2023… and then delete it, remembering, it’s 2024! :) And, my loved ones that did not live until today – I am grateful for my time with them and that they are forever woven into the rich tapestry of my soul, whispering to me that my life is a limited time engagement. Life is not always beautiful, but it’s not always ugly either. We are here, together on this orb, doing the best we can, trying to find balance. Living our best lives: it absolutely matters. We need each other resourced, rested, and resilient, so please take great care of the sacred vessel that is your body-mind-heart. The time has come for me to step further into supporting you and our community via my role as a Yoga Therapist-in-training. This February, I’ll begin seeing clients as part of my required training practicum.
