Friends,

In case you needed a reminder (like I do), good stuff is also happening in the world. Today, I will share some community GOODNESS:

Today is Indigenous People’s Day, and tonight Town Hall Seattle is offering this topical event as a part of its Green Series: Turning Adversaries into Tribal Allies to Save Salmon. Salmon are a keystone species; their survival is critical to the health of the North Pacific ecosystem, and their numbers are in decline. The event can be attended in-person or online.

Interfaith Alliance is offering a free webinar titled The Sacred Tradition of Protest: No Kings II Faith Training on Tues, Oct 14: a 90-minute online training on how moral protest serves as a sacred expression of faith and conscience, as well as a practical training of how to know your rights and practice non-violent resistance.

One of my students has co-organized this virtual fundraiser for the entire month of October – Heartbeat House & Friends Raffle: A fundraiser for Super Familia King County. There are some sweet prizes! 100% of funds will be donated to Super Familia, which is a Seattle org doing immigrant rights organizing and mutual aid.

Earshot Jazz Music Festival is happening in Seattle now through Nov 2. This year’s lineup is incredible!

There is another No Kings rally & march this Sat, Oct 18, somewhere near you. These have been peaceful, uplifting gatherings of solidarity, and participating helps me to feel less powerless. Your presence matters, and if you are upset with what’s happening in this country, consider attending.

My friend and fellow yoga therapist, Carol Ann Davidson is offering this potent and needed 3-part series called Soul Activism: Tending Anger, Befriending Grief, and Deepening Connection in Challenging Times on Bainbridge Island, starting Oct 23. If your conscious heart needs a salve, I cannot recommend this highly enough!

My friend, colleague, and menopause-specialist Vanessa Weiland, NP, is offering a free menopause workshop at the Bothell Library on Fri, Nov 7: Menopause 101: Wellness, intimacy, and beyond.

I recently posted a seated practice to release neck and shoulder / upper body tension. It’s about 13 minutes, is for all levels, and can be found here on Facebook. It makes a perfect mid-day computer break!

Yours in community,
Nicole

PS. I need your help! I am asking past and current students and clients to fill out my new feedback form so I can evolve and grow my tiny wellness business with care. Will you consider gifting me 5-7 minutes of your time to share your thoughts? Your generosity of time and honesty is invaluable to me.
