This two-part spring series includes two yoga therapy workshops focused on areas of the body that commonly bear load and support movement in daily life: the low back and the hips. While the workshops are designed to complement each other and taking both is highly recommended, you are welcome to register for one or both sessions.
Designed for those of us living modern lifestyles in modern bodies, these workshops use therapeutic movement, breath, rest, and awareness to explore how strength, stability, flexibility, and mobility can be cultivated from the spine outward, helping to reduce strain and support greater bodily ease over time.
When a yoga teacher asks the class, “Any requests?”, one of the top three answers is invariably “hips!”. The hips are complex, powerful, and frequently misunderstood. And their comfort, mobility, and overall health are strongly influenced by how much we sit, move, and habitually organize our bodies. Flexibility alone isn’t always the answer, and in some cases can actually contribute to discomfort rather than relieve it.
In this small group yoga therapy workshop, we’ll work with the hips through a holistic lens, exploring how the strength-flexibility relationship, pelvic orientation, daily habits, and nervous-system support all play a role in hip health, with attention to how the hips function to connect the legs to the pelvis and torso.
With ample time for inquiry and individualized exploration, this practice supports you in discerning what your hips need to move with greater comfort and stability, and with less pain in everyday life.
In studio only.
Each workshop is limited to 8 participants.
A short yoga therapy intake questionnaire is required upon registration.
Beginners welcome.
Investment: $55 per workshop, or $100 for both (up to May 3).
Stay tuned for two follow up workshops this fall – neck/shoulders and hands/feet!
