Summer Stillness

Hello friends,

Do you find it easier or harder to seek stillness during the expansive days of summer? I notice it can be more challenging to make the time, but when I do, I quickly drop inward with more freedom, like a small pebble into clear water, creating gentle ripples outward, outward, outward…

I'm reminded of this excerpt from Richard Wagamese (from his book One Drum):

“This is how you change the world, the smallest circles first… That humble energy, the kind that says, ‘I will do what I can do right now in my own small way,’ creates a ripple effect on the world.”

Why is stillness so important?

Stillness is an invitation—to pause external searches for answers, fulfillment, and identity, and instead come home to ourselves. Not to stick our heads in the sand or hide from the world on fire, but to remember who we truly are.

Stillness is an opportunity—to align. Not as in the cues of a yoga pose, but as in aligning with your unique truth and personal integrity. Where are you directing your energy and attention? Is it serving you?

Stillness is medicine—a simple balm for being human in a messy, complex world. It’s tuning into the quiet wisdom of your inner landscape, the compass of your heart, and the rhythms of your breath—wisdom and rhythms easily missed when attention is scattered and directed outward.

May your ripples start small and feel meaningful.

Be the change,
Nicole
