Summer Schedule Updates

Dear ones,

Restorative yoga may look like we’re simply lying around in some sort of decadent way. But let me assure you: it is not indulgence.

This is a way we reclaim our power.

When we are exhausted, distracted, overwhelmed, or dysregulated, we lose access to clarity, discernment, and our ability to respond skillfully.

And there is a lot in the world right now vying for our attention.

If we are overbusy or scattered in despair, confusion, or reactivity, we are not effective in what we aim to do or create.

Your presence matters. You create positive ripples in the world when you show up fully, speak with integrity, and act in alignment with your values.

The world needs us grounded, clear, and steady.

That requires rest.

This is part of why I care so deeply about offering Candlelight Restorative Yoga, my Sunday evening class. It’s also part of why I have, after many years of teaching this class year-round, started to take a summer hiatus.

As we move into summer, life often becomes fuller, hotter, busier – more outwardly focused. Yogic and Ayurvedic wisdom suggest cooling, grounding practices like yin, Restorative, and yoga nidra – not sun salutations – to find balance this time of year. Summer amplifies the qualities of pitta: heat, intensity, drive, ambition. Restorative yoga and other practices on the low and slow end of the spectrum offer a necessary counterbalance: an invitation to cool, soften, slow down, and return to center.

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is pause long enough to remember who we are, what matters, and what brings us joy. It’s that simple.

Here are my summer schedule updates for you:

  • Sunday, June 21 (Summer Solstice): No regular class. Instead, I’m co-leading a special event with Michelle. (Currently waitlist only – sign up through the studio.)

  • Sunday, June 28 (Pride Weekend): Class as usual. (Final class before my summer break.)

  • July & August: My annual summer pause from Sunday evening classes.

    • Special note: This year, Sarah-Kate has generously offered to lead class on the 2nd and 4th Sundays – check Datza’s schedule for details/to register.

  • Sunday, September 13: Return to my weekly Sunday class schedule. Note that this is the Sunday after Labor Day.

  • Saturday, September 19: Special 2-hour event, already open for registration – Fall Equinox Restorative Yoga + Healing Touch. (These events are very popular and fill up in advance.)

You will still be hearing from me via my newsletter throughout the summer – I have things to share, friends!

And I’ll still be working with private clients, of course.

Wishing you spaciousness, steadiness, and some real rest this summer,
Nicole
